The Product Development Senior Scientist will play a critical role in the development of new formulations and supporting the commercialization of the new product introductions in our Air Care product pipeline. As a member of an integrated, cross-functional team, the Senior Scientist is responsible for understanding the needs/desires of the consumer and customer and for developing and executing technical solutions that meet these needs while supporting the business strategy for successful initiative launches.

What we offer

  • Initiates and coordinates the execution of wide project scope projects. Develops experimental designs and work plans in the development of new products to meet desired performance metrics.
  • Works on projects as a member of an integrated, cross functional project team. This includes working with marketing counterparts to identify consumer/customer needs and translating these needs into technical specifications.
  • Works closely with packaging, process development and manufacturing during development and commercialization of relevant products.
  • Maintains excellent lab book documentation of results, conclusions, and next steps.
  • Plans and schedules project tasks related to laboratory experiments and consumer trials.
  • Responsible for planning, preliminary interpretation and presentation of data. Reports progress/issues on a timely basis.
  • Contributes to the solution of assigned problems through development/modifications of test procedures.
  • Runs standard and non-standard chemical, physical, or application tests to obtain data to evaluate composition and performance of competitive offerings.
  • Responsible for completing product development documentation tasks as part of the master data process.
  • Assists department staff in lab demonstrations for training programs and customer visits.
  • Checks and maintains inventories of raw materials and supplies and maintains work spaces.
  • Responsible for safe working conditions (handles dangerous equipment and hazardous chemicals).
  • Aware of hazards associated with work assigned, observes safe work practices, keeps equipment neat, clean and in safe operating condition, and maintains good housekeeping standards.
  • Responsible for following all applicable Federal, State, and Local health, safety, and environmental regulations, as per corporate health, safety and environmental policies.

Who we are looking for

  • Education — Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience is preferred. Post-graduate degree in Chemistry or related field with relevant experience will be considered.
  • Ability to effectively partner with cross functional and external counterparts.
  • Ability to represent chemistry/technology to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Basic personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases are required.
  • Strong communication skills are required, as the position involves working in multi-functional project teams, with consumers and 3rd parties.
