Manager - Sales Management, East Coast - Sexy Hair

Responsible for Sexy Hair sales development in the Eastern half of the US.   This includes all sales through distribution stores, SSCs/DSCs and sub distributors with SalonCentric and BSG (Cosmoprof).

Reports to the Director of Sales, Domestic

Direct Reports: 8-10 Regional Sales Managers

What we offer

Sales Development

  • Responsible for sales growth and development of territory
    • Sales goals: overall and by brand, by key activity and by channel monthly, quarterly and yearly
    • Targeting and opening new salon accounts
    • Monitoring and achievement of aligned upon RSM KPIs for growth of the market including Salons, Stores, SSCs/DSCs, Chains, Beauty Supplies and Sub Distributors
    • Monitoring and development of monthly sellout by customer and channel
    • Monitoring and development of RSM sellout by channel and overall
  • In conjunction with Senior Management from customers and SHC, develop a Sales, Marketing and Education (SME) plan for area of responsibility that aligns with overall company objectives.
    • Integrated Sales, Marketing and Education calendar by sales channel and customer
    • Support and direct team to sell through key initiatives
    • Monthly status report
      • Supported by proper analysis of the Distributor sellout data, the What’s Happening report, The Track and Field report etc.
      • The above reports require updating on a regular basis as per company guidelines
      • Written progress communication with VP of Sales and GM monthly
    • Administering and monitoring the expense budgets in accordance with the SME plan
    • Work in conjunction with team and Key Account Manager (KAM) for activities and opportunities by channel

Coaching and Mentoring 

  • Direct, coach and mentor Regional Sales managers for territory, this includes the following areas.
    • Setting clear objectives weekly, monthly and annually
    • Aligning expectations for planning and sales meetings and communicating to team
    • Conducting regular work-withs while supplying ongoing feedback regarding progress
    • Conduct monthly one on one goal and progress assessment with each direct report
    • Conduct yearly RSM evaluations to include development recommendations.
  • Utilization of the company sales tracking system for sales tracking and goal achievement and to mentor and coach team members

Sales/Planning Meetings – Market Visits

  • Plan and conduct regular sales and education meetings with key customer management.
  • Assist Key Account Managers with sell in meetings for sell through alignment
  • Periodically attend customer sales meetings with and without RSMs
  • Do regular in store visits to ensure the following:
    • Full brand representation
    • Proper in line shelf and end-cap merchandising
    • Auditing of staff knowledge and subsequent needs
    • Development of relationships with key Store leaders including district managers and store managers
    • High level knowledge of top producing stores and key learning’s

Education/Experts

  • Oversee Expert Deployment by RSMs for distributor Look & Learns, Demos, In-Salon Classes and SHC Programs
    • Proposing dates, venues and artists
    • Budgeting of events
    • By providing clarity of cost sharing with distributor via budget work sheets and sign-offs.
    • Training on customer specific needs.
    • Providing feedback in conjunction with line management.
    • Ensuring adequate Expert activity is planned 6 weeks in advance and 3 activities per Expert per month
  • In conjunction with RSMs and education team recruit and train stylists for the Sexy Hair Education team
  • In conjunction with KAMs, schedule, plan and execute all major distributor sales meetings and conferences
    • Ensure Experts are scheduled for trainings
    • Create agenda in conjunction with education department
    • Schedule RSM staff participation
    • Work with customers to exceed event expectations
  • Key contact for sales support at shows in territory
    • Oversee and schedule RSMs for sales support at shows
    • Maximize target salon and stylist opportunities at all shows
    • Work with customer to execute all customer touch points at the show

General

  • Work with multiple customers:  Distributor Buyers, Distributor Managers. Sales and Education staff.
  • Make written recommendations for improvement to company processes, brands and field activities.
  • Integral member of the Sales, Marketing and Education (SME) team.
  • Provide competitive insight at SME monthly meeting.

Who we are looking for

Required Qualifications:

  • An experienced Sales Manager with 5 or more years in the beauty industry.
  • An experienced Sales Manager with a strong track record for accomplishing goals and developing team members
  • A college degree preferred but not required when applicant has strong industry experience.
  • Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit while operating within corporate guidelines.
  • Be a solutions oriented individual to work with multiple customers:  Distributor Buyers, Distributor Managers and Sales Staff
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must be proficient in word, excel and power point
  • At least 50% travel; subject to change based on seasonal activities such as shows and corporate events.
