Blow Molding/Silk Screening Manager

The Blow Molding/Silk Screening Manager reports to the Sr. Director, Manufacturing and has primary responsibility for the extrusion and injection blow molding processes which operates 24 hours a day, 7-days a week and the silk screening operation which runs 24/5. The Blow Molding/Silk Screening Manager will manufacture and screen a wide range of bottle types at minimal cost, of specified quality, and according to production planning demands.


This position is responsible for the efficient and economical utilization of labor, materials, and assets, while employing process improvement techniques to improve overall quality and efficiency in the Blow Molding and Silk Screening Department. Ensures overall equipment effectiveness of the machinery through effective use of process control techniques and adherence to standard operating procedures. Oversees the daily activities of Blow Molding and Silk Screening staff for all shifts.

  • Manages the activities of blow molding/silk screening team, team leaders, and develops, trains, evaluates, and interviews staff.
  • Plans and implements effective procedures and policies to maintain all equipment is in top working condition to minimize downtime; daily supervises preventative maintenance on auxiliary production equipment.
  • Implements proactive maintenance program to ensure production lines and machines run with minimal interruption at maximum efficiency. Provides technical knowledge and expertise to solve mechanical problems such as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic.
  • Researches and proposes cost reduction programs through the improvement of method and elimination of waste.
  • Develops proposed annual operating budget for departments; monitors expenditures for control within approved budget. Tracks spending; makes decisions to ensure budget control and plant metrics are met.
  • Manage plant level capital projects in conjunction with engineering manager.
  • Remain aware and trained on all technical advancements in the area of responsibility.
  • Responds to and assists during plant emergencies as part of the organizations PEO and contingency plans.

a) Expedites, when necessary, to meet the needs of corporate sales
b) Plans department’s yearly budget
c) Identifies repair priorities based on the daily production schedule and ensures that all required equipment is operable
d) Plans and implements effective procedures and policies to maintain all equipment is in top working condition to minimize downtime; daily supervises preventative maintenance on auxiliary production equipment.

Who we are looking for 

  • High School Diploma; Further education (Associates or Bachelor's Degree) preferred in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering or related technical field preferred  
  • 5-10 years experience in manufacturing operation management
  • Blow Molding and/ or Silk Screening technology preferred
  • Excellent communication and managerial skills are required
  • Experienced with or leading maintenance activities including troubleshooting controls and hydraulic systems
  • Must be familiar with programmable logic controllers; able to read and sketch mechanical drawings
  • Demonstrates initiative and motivation and excellent math skills
