The In-house Packaging Line Production Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient execution of the packaging of products manufactured in Bay Point, California.

What we offer

  • Requires the precise chemical and physical manipulation of materials and products through the execution of manufacturing instructions, safety procedures, proper waste disposal procedures, standard operating procedures and other production related documentation. 

  • Follow packaging procedures and instructions assuring continued smooth operation of the packaging line to package product efficiently, effectively, and consistently in order to meet daily customer demand schedule, requirements and expectations. 

  • Monitor packaging line equipment operation and ensure routine machine check adjustments are made to the process to overcome problems as necessary. 

  • Ensure proper assembly of supplies following instructions, while neatly and accurately documenting individual packaging activities on the required paperwork. 

  • Must be able to adjust to changes in workflow, prioritize as needed, and meet deadlines. 

  • Able to multi-task in a fast paced, high-speed automated, semi-automated and manual packaging environment.

  • Maintain equipment supplies which are essential to sustain operations according to lean manufacturing requirements. 

  • Perform material handling requirements for the packaging line with the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and a drum handler, as required. 

  • Effectively function within a team environment or work as an individual contributor and is responsible for his/her level of authority for ensuring compliance with all approved policies, procedures, and practices of the Bay Point facility. 

  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping of hours worked, details on products produced and training records. 

  • Safely operate Manufacturing Equipment using detailed instructions and daily inspections of assigned machinery, equipment and infrastructure. 

  • Practice good housekeeping habits to ensure the work areas are clean and organized at the end of the assigned shift. 

  • Work on Health, Safety and Environmental Teams to continuously improve work processes, aid in other areas, train other operators and other special projects assigned by Henkel Personnel. 

  • Follow proper material storage and handling requirements, and ensure disposal of hazardous waste materials. 

  • Must be able to keep on schedule with minimal supervision.

Who we are looking for

  • Ability to pass basic mathematics proficiency requirements and oral directions testing. 

  • Able to read and follow manufacturing instructions, safety procedures, proper waste disposal procedures and standard operating procedures. 

  • Communicating with Supervisors or Peers -- Provide information to supervisors or co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. 

  • Fast-paced packaging/production environment. 

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent. 

  • Interacting With Computers -- Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data, or process information. 

  • Must be able to retain information and training. 

  • Must be trainable to safely operate production equipment and maintain daily records for work performed. 

  • Must work efficiently and within established time frames and effectively function within a team environment.

  • Oral Comprehension -- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences or data with a global audience. 

  • Oral Expression -- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand data with a global audience. 

  • Processing Information -- calculating, tabulating, auditing, and/or verifying information or data. 

  • Proficient at routine mathematics, which includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. 

  • The employee must have excellent attendance record.

  • Written Expression -- The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand. 

  • Minimum Requirements – Physical Requirements: 

  • Able to safely lift 65 pounds and manipulate drums weighing up to 650 pounds.

  • Able to wear safety glasses with side shield design. 

  • Able to work with and around hazardous materials, chemicals, and equipment. 

  • Drive high lift truck – including use of steps and sitting during operation. 

  • Frequently write by hand and/or type on a keyboard for periods of times. 

  • Must apply personal protective equipment including half mask respirator, particulate dust mask, hearing protection and frequent change of latex and/or heavy rubber gloves. 

  • Personal eye protection and steel toe shoes required.

  • The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. 

  • This position requires the ability to perform physical labor throughout the entire shift, as needed. 

  • Verbally communicate one-on-one and in front of groups. 

  • View a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for periods of time. 

  • Walk/Stand approximately 90% of the time. • Warehouse environment, where temperature can be seasonably cool or warm. 

  • Will be working in the presence of environmental conditions such as fumes, dust, heights, chemicals, odors and noise.
