Marketing Director, New Product Development - Joico

180007HQ, Arcadia, CA

What we offer

  • Lead the team in trend spotting, ideation, evaluation, testing, packaging, formula development of new products and/or brand restage projects for Joico brand - hair care and hair color. 
  • Develop initiatives that drive annual new product revenue to at least 15% of total global revenue. 
  • Oversee Clarity tasks to drive Zotos innovation process and adhere to timelines. 
  • Development of differentiated positioning, concepts, claims, messaging, package art and other brand holder materials that help drive brand equity aand garner a competitive advantage. 
  • Work with key partners (Creative, Digital) to develop visual identity elements. Initiate and lead market research initiatives with professional stylists and consumers to uncover customer insights, behaviours and preferences that help inform new product decisions. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply results to projects. 
  • Budget accountability. 
  • For each initiative create a holistic brand plan: COG%, product architecture, Sku rationalization plan, product extensions, sales and profit analysis post-launch. Work effectively cross-functionally with all departments (go-to-market marketing, R&D, Packaging, Creative, Demand Planning, Operations, Finance, Manufacturing, Digital) to develop big idea, high quality products, shipped on schedule, that meet/exceed outlined objectives.             
  • Promote effective planning, strong communication, teamwork, and trust to build departmental and organizational strength. 
  • Develop and maintain new product development process infrastructure and tools to optimize new product development from concept to ship.

Who we are looking for

  • Excellent communication with effective interpersonal skills.

  • The position requires a unique individual capable of ensuring teamwork within the different departments of the company and who possesses the ability to see the entire picture of the New Product activity of the brand, while also being able to drill down to perform tasks and project work 
  • Passionate about professional hair care and an entrepreneurial spirit. 
  • 8-10 years of experience in beauty--preferably professional hair care. Global marketing/New Product Development experience is required.
  • Fluent in market research methodology and interpretation. 
  • Familiar with new product development and gate process. 
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead a multi-functional team to a common goal and action. 
  • Strong financial acumen. 
  • Computer skills (MS office suite). 
  • Required travel 25% according to needs of the business unit.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field; MBA preferred.
