YOUR ROLE

The Environmental Coordinator acts as a resource for the West Hazleton facility to ensure compliance with Henkel standards and regulations. The individual selected for this role will be assigned to a flexible 1st shift schedule.

  • Manage all phases of hazardous, non-hazardous, residual, and universal waste at the facility. Continue to research ways to optimize and reduce waste streams from the facility. Perform inspection of waste areas on a weekly basis.
  • Manage spill kits, supplies, and waste labels inventories.
  • Act as liaison with the Hazleton Sewer Authority and the West Hazleton Fire Department.
  • Sample wastewater and storm water for bi-annual compliance reporting per the permits, or as additionally required by the authority/DEP. Complete bi-annual stormwater inspections. Assure BMPs are in place to meet the Stormwater Permit.
  • Administer the contractual responsibilities and coordinator responsibilities of the following services and licenses on an annual basis: Storage Tank registrations, Tier II usage report, Toxic Release Inventory, Luzerne County Recycling Report, West Hazleton Borough Fire Prevention and Chemical Permits.
  • Compile information to complete compliance reports including hazardous waste, residual waste, wastewater, storm water, Tier II, TRI and Luzerne County Recycling Report.
  • Accurately monitor and document water usage for reporting along with ensuring payments are processed and received to assure compliance with Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) Docket requirements.
  • Obtain ISO Auditor certification for all standards including point person for Energy review.
  • Manage/perform PPC/Stormwater, SPCC/Diesel Spill, and Hazardous Waste trainings for the plant.
  • Maintain Hazardous Waste (RCRA)/DOT Hazardous Material certification to handle hazardous waste and shipment of hazardous chemicals.
  • Compile information on water, waste, and energy for sustainability reports and enter data into SHE.com.

YOUR SKILLS

  • Associate degree in Environmental Science or commensurate work experience.
  • 1 to 2 years of current or recent related work experience in manufacturing or a similar industry.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and safe work practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in current or previous roles.

The salary for this role is $27.74 - $32.55. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range.  This salary range may also be modified in the future.
