What you'll do
- Lead the preparation, review, and submission of all tax returns and filings in Mexico (e.g., VAT, CIT, local taxes).
- Interpret and apply IFRS and Mexican tax legislation with sound technical judgment.
- Provide technical support and guidance on IFRS and tax matters to local and international stakeholders.
- Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors, manage audits, and resolve any arising issues.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation in accounting & tax reporting and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting and tax laws and global tax policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative changes and assess their impact on the business.
- Prepare tax provisions for financial reporting purposes under local and international accounting standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments, including finance, legal, and operations.
What makes you a good fit
- Excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- 5–7 years of experience in accounting and tax within multinational companies or Big 4 firms.
- Strong knowledge of Mexican tax legislation and practical experience in tax planning, compliance, and audits.
- Demonstrated ability to lead accounting and tax compliance processes and manage complex filings.
- Solid background in accounting processes, financial reporting, and account reconciliation.
- Proven ability to lead projects and work across teams — prior team management is not required but considered a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Process improvement mindset and experience with automation tools preferred.
