Mfg. Process Engineer - Intern

Your Role
This position will perform basic project tasks such as drawing review, equipment sizing, purchasing, order tracking, order follow up, and order receipt. Good basic computer skills are essential (work with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word) with basic engineering technical skills such as the ability to perform basic heat & energy balances, equipment sizing, & AutoCAD skills a definite plus.

Job Duties

  • Support manufacturing project initiatives, including but not limited to:
  • Review and modify P&ID and equipment drawings.
  • Specifying and sizing equipment such as pumps, valves, agitators and vessels.
  • Compile, issue, and evaluate bid packages for equipment.
  • Issue and follow up on purchase orders.
  • Coordinate with contractors including issuing work permits, performing safety audits, and confirming proper installation of equipment.
  • Assist in contractor work instructions to ensure reliable installation.
  • Provide support for miscellaneous manufacturing requests
  • Receive incoming equipment and insure compliance with purchase order.
  • Assist in startup and documentation of equipment commissioning.
  • Specify, procure, and commission new equipment
  • Conduct periodic audits of the job site (safety and compliance with job and site rules and procedures)
  • Support EHS (safety) initiatives
General Requirements
  • Chemical Engineering student; 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year.
  • Good basic computer skills
  • MS Word, Excel, and Project essential
  • AutoCAD skills are a definite plus
  • Ability to perform basic heat and mass balance calculations.
  • More advanced Chemical engineering concepts a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills (oral and written)
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently sit, view a computer screen, and type on a keyboard for extended periods of times
  • Verbally communicate one-on-one and in front of groups
  • Ability to walk up and down several flights of stairs
  • Occasionally may be required to reach, squat, bend and lift packages up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a chemical lab and manufacturing environment
  • Ability to travel on occasion
