Located around the corner and less than a mile from Walmart’s global headquarters, the Henkel Bentonville team of about 40 people is responsible for ensuring maximum representation of Henkel’s products across multiple categories in Walmart’s physical and online stores. Both Henkel Consumer Brands (HCB) and Henkel Adhesive Technologies (HAT) products line the retail giant’s shelves, with the laundry and home care category topping the list. Among others, you’ll find HCB’s well-known Persil®, Purex®, Dial®, Snuggle®, and Soft Scrub® brands, along with Combat® pest control solutions, and the hair category’s got2b® and Schwarzkopf® Keratin hair care formulas. Loctite® super glues and construction adhesives from HAT are also part of the Walmart product lineup.

Together, the high-performing Henkel Bentonville team tackles the complexities of partnering with Walmart, harmonizing components of the consumer buying experience to earn shelf space and drive sales.

Gina Monaldi leads Henkel Walmart Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment (CPFR). She and her team are responsible for ensuring the right products are in the right location at the right time.

We manage supply and are fortunate to have such a transparent partner in Walmart,. Walmart and Sam’s have a lot of data that is shared with us in real-time. It’s incredible. At any given moment, we can see our product status across all locations – what’s in store and what has sold so far today. This strengthens the partnership, allowing us to close any gaps we see at the shelf.

Jennifer Fowler, Director of Category and Shopper Insights, Walmart/Sam’s, HCB

While our CPFR colleagues are ensuring appropriate supply, our team’s job is to optimize product offerings. We analyze shopper behavior, developing a deep understanding of how our products are performing and who our consumers are. Leveraging this insight alongside current and future market trends helps form the basis of our marketing strategies to foster consumer satisfaction and drive sales.

These roles, along with management, sales, digital, sustainability, and finance staff, round out the Bentonville team.

Mike Mitchell, Vice President of Sales, Walmart/Sam’s Club, HCB

We have to satisfy a Walmart shopper’s need for our products with their first interaction. Connecting all the shopper’s touchpoints – whether in store, online, or in the media – to make the experience convenient is what our team does day in and day out. It’s a highly complex ecosystem, and we are under intense pressure to get it right. There is no time for silos; everyone must collaborate, and our team absolutely does that! Each role is vital and, while working with such a high-profile customer can be stressful, it is also gratifying to know that millions of Walmart shoppers interact with Henkel brands daily.

Sustainability and Digitalization in action

Digital penetration is a significant part of the Walmart/Henkel partnership. The online product representation must align with the in-store packaging, labeling, and messaging, and seamlessly connect with media investments. Henkel must keep pace with Walmart’s digital transformation to harmonize the consumer shopping experience. Significant resource allocation is ongoing to maintain a digital leadership position and to bring HAT products more fully into the Walmart digital fold.

Sustainability prioritization is also a pivotal component, as Walmart places great emphasis on responsible solutions. HCB North America Sustainability Manager Elizabeth Arredondo is responsible for distilling Henkel’s global sustainability strategy and accomplishments to a regional level.

Walmart’s Project Gigaton is their corporate effort to remove a gigaton of carbon from their supply chain. We report annually on CO2 reductions, sustainable packaging achievements, and responsible sourcing of raw materials. And, because Henkel continues to lead in the sustainability space, we have earned the coveted status of ‘Giga-Guru’, Walmart’s highest recognition of our environmental achievement across several challenging metrics.

Connected to the community

The Bentonville team is passionate about community service, participating in numerous initiatives, including Henkel’s Community Impact Day, the American Diabetes Association’s Kiss a Pig Gala, and sponsorship of the LPGA NW Arkansas Championship golf tournament.

Perhaps most notable is the staff’s contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Henkel is the lead sponsor of CFF’s annual Northwest Arkansas Finest event, and Bentonville employees have raised notable contributions for the local CFF chapter. Anne Shimp, Walmart HAT Senior Account Manager, is proud of Henkel’s ongoing support, sharing:

Every year for at least the past ten years, someone on our team has been recognized as an honoree, a distinction earned for significant fundraising achievement. This impact helps lead to medical developments that are dramatically improving the quality of life for people living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Culture and Career

Henkel has partnered with the University of Arkansas’ MBA program for intern recruitment, and several of the graduate students have become full-time Henkel employees. National Account Manager Sydney Barganier is one of them. Since joining Henkel, Sydney has been exposed to a variety of roles, starting in laundry supply chain and now managing Sam’s Club sales for the beauty category.

Sponsored by Henkel’s got2b® and Persil® brand teams, the event championed inclusivity and local artistry in Northwest Arkansas.
